George Trescot, USMA 1813

Died, May 12, 1827, at Pine Ridge, St. John's Parish, S.C.

"1813, October 24. Captain Partridge to Secretary of War. Has appointed Cadet Trescott [sic] assistant professor of mathematics. Cadet _____, whose habits are bad, to be transferred from Military Academy to First Artillery "as an example."   MS. O. M. A., A. G. O."   The Centennial of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. 1802-1902. Volume II, p. 65.

It is clear that this letter was written after Trescot "graduated", so the use of the word "Cadet" in the Centennial volume seems to be incorrect. Four pages later Richard Delafield is given the honor of being the first acting assistant professor of mathematics as a cadet.

Need to find some evidence that Trescot actually taught.

A web search brings up another George Trescot, a surgeon, in the South Carolina State Militia Fourth Brigade of Charleston, but that is clearly not our man.
