Joshua Woodrow Sill, USMA 1853

Born:    December 6, 1831, Chillicothe, Ohio.

Died:    Dec 31, 1862. KIA, battle of Stone Ridge, age 31.

• Assistant Professor of Geography, History, and Ethics, USMA, September 23, 1854 to August 29, 1857.
• Professor of Mathematics and Civil Engineering in the Brooklyn Collegiate and Polytechnic Institute, 1861.

In 1869, his classmate, General Philip Sheridan, officially established a military post in the Wichita Mountains of Oklahoma and named it after Joshua W. Sill.
