Genealogy:
- He married Elizabeth
- His only son, Edward D. Mansfield,
is an 1819 graduate.
- His daughter, Mary Ann, married Charles
Davies on October 10, 1825.
- He was the maternal uncle of
Joseph Gilbert
Totten (born New Haven, CT, 23 August 1788; died Washington, DC, 22 August
1864; USMA 1805, Cullum #10). Mansfield raised
Totten.
- He was also the uncle of General Joseph K. F. Mansfield (born 22 December
1803; killed at Antietam). This Mansfield graduated second in the USMA class
of 1822 behind his cousin George Dutton. I do not know if Dutton was related
to Mansfield.
