Surveying at West Point

The 1930 Superintendents report, p. 3, that effective September 1, 1930, "The transfer of the subject of surveying from the Department of Mathematics to the Department of Natural and Experimental Philosophy." In the copy I am using, which bears Bessell's signature, "Civil & Mill. Eng?" is written in above mathematics, which is circled.
