II.3    Library Catalogues

One of the great blessings of the web is that many library catalogues are available. If you plan to visit a nearby library, you should definitely spend some time looking at their catalog to decide in advance what you most want to look for. Other catalogues are also useful just to search for a piece of information.

Here are some of the library catalogues that I use regularly. There is hardly a day that goes by that I don't use one or more of these.

• USMA Library 
• Bowling Green
• Ohio Link
• New York Public Library
• Vassar
• University of Virginia
• Linda Hall Library of Science, Engineering, and Technology in Kansas City, Missouri.
• Hollis library at Harvard. 
• Columbia Teacher's College Library
• Zeising Adolf Karlsruher Virtueller Katalog provides access to most German university libraries.
• Ecole Polytechnique
• Jahrbuch ueber die Fortschritte der Mathematik has a first version of  an electronic archive for 1868 -1943.

Today there is no reason to compile lists of libraries as various libraries have such lists. However, I have a private web page with this information on it, for I find it more convenient for the libraries I use frequently.
